Itinerary

Depart at 8:00 AM to explore the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the city's most famous attractions, capable of accommodating up to 20,000 worshippers. Take a look inside this unique Islamic archaeological marvel. Then continue to the Royal Opera House, the Gulf's jewel in its kind, for an exterior visit. This work reflects an elegant mix of traditional and contemporary Arab-Islamic design. (An interior visit of the opera house is possible.) Continue to the old town, stroll along the picturesque Muttrah Corniche, known for its long history of trade and fishing, to reach the Muttrah Souk, full of charm and authentic flavors. After lunch at a local restaurant, head to the Bait al Zubair Museum, which houses one of the country's largest permanent heritage and art collections, offering a real window into Oman’s rich heritage and culture. End your day with a visit to Al Alam Palace, the Sultan's Palace. Overlooking the waterfront, the palace is flanked by two forts dating from the Portuguese era in the 16th century. The Al Jalali and Al Mirani forts are representative of the country's military architecture. Perched on the rocks, these forts dominate the sparkling blue waters of the Gulf of Oman. (The Palace and Forts are not open to the public - Photo stop only). Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Muscat.

After breakfast, depart to explore Wadi Al Arbayeen, about 2 hours from Muscat. This superb canyon with high mountainous walls covered in lush vegetation features small ponds and green pools created by the water flow. Enjoy a well-deserved swim and a picnic lunch. Later, head to Fins Beach, also known as White Beach, a picturesque beach with clear waters and stretches of white sand. A breathtaking view! Set up the tents, dinner, and overnight on the beach.

Depart to discover Wadi Shab, one of the Sultanate's most stunning natural pools. After a short boat ride, you’ll be on the other side of the river arm, ready for a 45-minute hike through a huge canyon gorge lined with palm trees and steep paths. This hike is necessary to reach the emerald green pools, an ideal spot for a refreshing swim. Enjoy a picnic lunch or dine in a local restaurant. Then, head to Wadi Tiwi, where you will discover small villages nestled in varied palm groves. This Wadi is one of the most beautiful valleys in Oman, with its blue-green pools surrounded by palm trees. At the end of the day, return to Fins Beach. Dinner and overnight on the beach.

After breakfast, leave the beach for the city of Sur, built by the sea of Oman, a major trading port with East Africa until the early 20th century, famous for its traditional dhow building. Visit the Al Ayjah lighthouse, a popular attraction offering a unique view of the beautiful city. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Sur. Later, take the road Asila Ras Al Hadd towards Al Ashkharah. Enjoy the beauty of the villages along the Oman Sea coast. Al Ashkharah is a beautiful fishing village known for its stunning beaches populated by birds and turtles, a major fish source. It’s an ideal place for relaxation and an unforgettable night. Set up the tents, dinner, and overnight by the sea in Al Ashkharah.

After breakfast, embark on an unforgettable journey to the Oman desert. During an approximately 5-hour circuit, let yourself be enchanted by the vast sand dunes, wadis, and admirable coasts. The stunning nature extends in all directions. You will cross Wahiba Sands or Al Sharqiya, a vast sandy area covering 12,500 km². This ocean of ochre dunes will captivate you with its exceptional beauty. Your experienced driver will let you discover the joys of dune crossing in a 4x4. One of the most delightful desert experiences is walking on the dunes and watching the sunset. Set up the tents, dinner, and overnight in the desert.

In the morning, after enjoying the sunrise and breakfast in the desert, depart for a new adventure at Wadi Hawar. Beyond the popular Wadi Bani Khaled, you will find Wadi Hawar, one of the most fascinating and less frequented wadis. It's an ideal place for hiking enthusiasts who will have fun throughout the journey. The trek will take an average of 4 to 5 hours, and you will be amazed by the stunning landscapes, climbing rocks, swimming in turquoise natural pools, beautiful waterfalls, and sliding in natural slides. A magical place for unforgettable memories! Enjoy a picnic lunch, and at the end of the day, continue to Nizwa for dinner and overnight at a hotel.

Start your day with a stroll through the various sections of Nizwa Souk, present in the city for hundreds of years. You will find a wonderful range of crafts, spices, dates, silverware, livestock, pottery, etc. Continue to Nizwa Fort, one of the main attractions of Nizwa, built in the 17th century. This fortress is unique with its circular shape, featuring many corridors and compartments and distinguished by an impressive tower overlooking the souk. Continue to the village of Birkat Al Mauz, one of the most renowned ruined villages in the Sultanate of Oman, with a vast banana plantation and picturesque surroundings. The site also houses an ancient irrigation system "Falaj" listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch at a local restaurant, ascend Jebel Akhdar "Green Mountain," part of the Al Hajar mountain range, peaking at 3,000 meters, dotted with small Omani villages and terraced fields cultivated with various plants for centuries. Admire the view at Diana’s Point, visited by Princess Diana in 1986, offering a 360° panorama of the canyons and the mountain range, and walk along the mountain paths crossing steep stairs and many villages. Enjoy the breathtaking sunset view! Set up the tents, dinner, and overnight at Jabel Akhdar.

Descend from Jebel Akhdar to Bahla, the home of myths and legends that have endured for centuries. Nationally renowned for its pottery, Bahla is surrounded by a 12 km wall and dominated by the country's largest fort, built in the third millennium BC and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Exterior visit). Continue to explore Jabreen Castle, built both as a defensive bastion and the Imam's residence, Jabreen Castle is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and picturesque forts in the Sultanate of Oman. Later, explore Al Hamra village, an old abandoned village over 400 years old, and its lush palm grove. You will have the opportunity to discover traditional Omani architecture, with its adobe houses and narrow alleys. Continue towards the village of Misfat Al Abryeen. Situated at 900 meters altitude, Misfat Al Abryeen is a village nestled in the mountains. During a short walk, you will discover this picturesque village, known for its ancient stone houses and agricultural terraces. You will be charmed by the surrounding tranquility. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and ascend Jebel Shams, the highest point in Oman at 3,009 meters. The road leading to the mountain alternates between paved and gravel paths, winding through impressive terrain. A true geological journey! Set up the tents, dinner, and overnight at Jabel Shams.

In the morning, walk in Jebel Shams, discovering small villages amid a barren, lunar landscape before reaching the summit overlooking the famous Grand Canyon of Oman. Afterward, take the rugged road to Wadi Bani Awf, a large wadi in the city of Al Rustaq flanked by very high vertical walls. Surrounded by small villages and palm trees, enjoy a relaxing picnic at the wadi and be enchanted by the stunning scenery. Continue to Balad Sayt, a traditional Omani village nestled between the mountains, with small houses on rocky slopes and extensive agricultural terraces surrounding it, taking you back in time.
