Start your morning with a drive to Nizwa, located about 1 hour and 50 minutes (155 km) from Muscat. Begin your exploration with a leisurely stroll through the various sections of the centuries-old Nizwa Souk, where you’ll find an array of crafts, spices, dates, silverware, livestock, and pottery.
Next, visit Nizwa Fort, one of the city’s major attractions, built in the 17th century. This unique fortress features a circular shape, winding corridors, and an imposing tower that overlooks the bustling souk below.
Make a quick stop in Birkat Al Mauz, one of Oman’s most famous ruined villages, set among vast banana plantations and surrounded by a picturesque landscape.
Hop into your 4x4 vehicle and head toward Jebel Akhdar, the "Green Mountain," part of the Al Hajar Mountain range. Standing at 3,000 meters, this mountain is dotted with traditional Omani villages and terraced farms that have been cultivated for centuries. The breathtaking views will leave you in awe.
