Begin your morning by exploring Jebel Shams, which translates to "Mountain of the Sun." Located approximately 250 km from Muscat, it is the highest point in Oman, standing tall at 3,009 meters. The road to the mountain alternates between paved and gravel paths, winding its way through impressive terrain. Upon reaching the summit, you'll witness the famous Grand Canyon of Arabia—a true journey through geological time!
Descend towards the ancient village of Al Hamra, which is over 400 years old. Explore this abandoned village with its lush palm grove. You’ll get a chance to admire traditional Omani architecture, with adobe houses and narrow alleyways.
Continue to Bait Al Safa, a living museum located in the village of Al Hamra. This museum is set in a historic home where local Omani women demonstrate traditional skills, such as making Omani coffee, bread, and pottery. It’s a unique opportunity to gain insight into Omani life and traditions.
Next, head to the village of Misfat Al Abryeen, situated 900 meters above sea level. This village is carved into the mountains and during a short walk, you’ll explore its picturesque landscape, renowned for its ancient stone houses, agricultural terraces, and the traditional irrigation system known as the "Falaj." The tranquility of this setting will undoubtedly captivate you.
