Start your morning journey to Nizwa, located approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes (155 km) by road from Muscat, and begin your visit by strolling through the various sections of the Souk, which has been present in the city for hundreds of years. You will find a wonderful array of crafts, spices, dates, silverware, livestock, pottery, and more.
Continue to Nizwa Fort, one of the main attractions in the city, built in the 17th century. This fortress is unique in its circular shape, featuring numerous corridors and compartments, and is distinguished by an impressive tower that overlooks the souk.
Next, explore Bahla, a place steeped in myths and legends that have endured through the centuries. Nationally recognized for its pottery, the town of Bahla is surrounded by a 12 km wall and is dominated by the largest fort in the country, which was constructed in the third millennium BCE. This fort is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. (Exterior visit only)
End your day by exploring Jabreen Castle. Built both as a defensive stronghold and a residence for the Imam, Jabreen Castle is certainly one of the most beautiful and picturesque forts in the Sultanate of Oman.
